Weeds in the North Florida Lawn
Weeds are a difficult problem to control for both homeowners and lawn care professionals. “Why do I have weeds?” is a question we receive almost daily. The simple answer is because you live in Florida. Weeds are seldom controlled with one or two applications of weed control product. Generally, it can take many months to many years to rid your lawn of weeds. Weed control takes time and continual effort on the part of the homeowner and Trad’s.
All Trad’s Lawn customers receive a broad leaf weed control application in the Spring and in the Fall. Additionally, Trad’s Lawn Inspectors spot treat weeds throughout the growing season based on service calls placed by our customers.
The secret to a weed free lawn is healthy, vigorously growing turf grass. It takes two things to achieve thick, healthy turf: Proper care of the lawn and Proper product application to the lawn. Trad’s will properly apply products such as fertilizer and weed control products. Proper Cultural practices such as irrigation to prevent drought and proper mowing is the customer’s responsibility and is equally important. There is more detail in the Cultural Practices section of this site about mowing and irrigation. Click here to view our Cultural Practices.
Trad’s Basic Lawn Program covers most broad leaf weeds. Crabgrass and/or Sedge is treated as part of a separate, add on program.
